Top 10 Hottest Female Horror Film Leads

top-10-Horror-film-leads

Another tough one as there really is alot of sexy hot female leads within horror films. Rather than taking the obvious route of “hot ladies within horror”, I thought it better to focus on the sexy leads who are better known for their lead parts. Milla Jovovich as the Resident Evil lead is a great example of this, who pretty much is the face of Resident Evil films. The same could be said for Kate … Continue reading

Weirdest and Wackiest Death Scenes – Todd Martin’s List

Untitled-1

I have seen tons of horror movies in my lifetime, and as a result I have seen more death scenes than I could ever count. Some are awesome, some suck sour frog ass, and some are just freaking weird, usually because of the unlikely item used to kill someone. Several examples come to mind, but there are some that stand out more than the others. Without further ado I present to you my list of … Continue reading

Motionless In White Reveals ‘Infamous’ CD Release Art

Motionless-in-white-infamous-CDart

Motionless In White has unveiled the cover art for their highly anticipated forthcoming full-length Infamous, set for release on November 13, 2012.

In the two years since the release of acclaimed debut Creatures, Motionless In White has constantly challenged the concept of “playing it safe”. Unafraid to make music as intense as it is intricate, their ability to interweave powerful lyrics and strong musicianship with striking imagery that has captivated both fans and media … Continue reading

Music Review: Marilyn Manson – Smells Like Children

smells-like-children-marilyn-manson-CD-cover

What can you say about this early Marilyn Manson release? It’s quite bizarre and angry. In the style of a mash-up of weird sound FX segments and garbled voce tracks, “Smells Like Children” uses the art of segueing from one piece of garbage gargle into the next with what sounds like a way to experiment with different off-beat ideas and recordings (I’m really tempted at this point to add the obvious “Smells like crap” … Continue reading

Top 20 Hottest Sexiest Horror Movie Posters – Part 1

top20-hottest-sexiest-horror-posters

So you might recall an advert or 2? Certainly a few of these bodacious eye popping 1-sheets have made you stop once or twice to see what new film products the marketing folks were throwing at you. A few have stuck out as favorites that were clearly using sex appeal to sell its viewers on the lovely inclusions these films offered. A good example is “The Unborn” ad which features actress Odette Annable standing in … Continue reading

Music Review: Alice Cooper – From the Inside

Alice-Cooper-From-The-Inside

Alice Cooper’s release titled “From the Inside” stands as one of my favorite release from the Cooper camp. This particular theme-centered release depicts Alice’s life as he imagined it during his alcoholism stay at the New York sanitarium . The release also managed to earn him a billboard hit with the love ballad “How You Gonna See Me Now”. The album later was realized in the form of a Marvel comic single 1 off … Continue reading

12 Bad Jokes About Daybreakers

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

Daybreakers (2009), is a vampire film noir hybrid, with a futuristic vein (see what I did there?), starring Ethan Hawke, Sam Neil and Willem Dafoe. It is directed by the Spierig brothers, Michael and Peter. The film is about a human blood shortage affecting the vampires and the struggle to find a suitable replacement. It’s quite stylish and entertaining. So there’s… wait. I think…yes, there will be…Mwhuhuhuhahahahaha!

1) The film’s opening sequence, had a vampire … Continue reading

Ah, back for more I see! Well we couldn’t leaving ya hanging on to just 10, could we? Not with so many copycat, derivative poster designs to choose from. To be honest I probably could have taken this to 30, but 20 will have to do for now. As with the previous 10, some are blatant rip-offs while others and “inspired” by (or whatever they call it). Enjoy the gallery of delights from minds that … Continue reading

If you are a noob to the horror film world, or even if you are a seasoned veteran, you know that finding a horrible horror film is not that hard. Top 10 Goriest Horror Movie Death Scenes

The 13 Goriest Horror Movie Death Scenes

Howdy. I think everyone can agree that violence is awesome. It is something we are taught to appreciate since day one. There is nothing more culturally sophisticated than a nice, well done vision of sadistic, relentless, bloody violence. I’ve noticed that in all walks of life horrific bloodbaths have entertained, inspired, consoled and comforted so many people. There really is no substitute for finding that special someone, curling … Continue reading

Music Review: Alice Cooper – Goes to Hell

alice_cooper-goes_to_hell

Released in 1976, this album was intended as a sequel follow up to “Welcome to My Nightmare”, taking on the idea of a theme album again. The release went gold with a few successful tunes coming off its debut. A planned tour though ended up being canceled due to Alice’s bout with anemia. The release featured producer Bob Ezrin providing his handy work to a more polished studio release for the Alice Cooper band. … Continue reading

Top 20 Look-alike Similar Horror Poster Designs – Part 1

poster-art-same-banner

Never let it be said that horror posters don’t strike inspiration. Or maybe it’s “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”? You may have performed one of those double takes here and there for good reason. Poster art (and in this case horror poster art) has been recycled for ages in one form or another. While some of these are in a similar themes. Others are just plain rip-offs from the original (I know you’ll … Continue reading

Music Review: Alice Cooper – Welcome 2 My Nightmare (2011)

AliceCooper-Welcome-II-my-Nightmare

I’ve always been a pretty solid Alice Cooper fan. Though I will confess that my loyalty lies more in the earlier edgier releases of the 70’s. They were inventive, strange, and melodically creepy. A perfect union of horror and music. Alice has always been the iconic superhero of horror rock. In later years, I lost my rush as he became closer to 80’s metal, with cheesy lyrics and a band who seemed more like … Continue reading

Top 10 Genre Time Travel Movies

time-travel-films

Time travel films easily rank among my favorite through out the genres. Most of the time these movies are presented in a science fiction film foundation (but not all of the time). A film like the comedy “Groundhog Day” is proof of that. With over 200 films created that deal with time travel, trying to create a “top 10 list” is a rather difficult task. Though as they say, things are subjective. I feel these 10 … Continue reading

Music Review: Aesthetic Perfection – All Beauty Destroyed

AP

Given that A Violent Emotion quickly became a staple and almost immediate classic of the aggrotech scene, AP has a high bar to step up to. Overall, I think All Beauty Destroyed is an okay followup, but is too focused on playing it safe vocally while buying into worn out tropes of the genre.

The music is about what you’d expect: distorted beats and blaring synths. Graves keeps a nice balance between dancability … Continue reading

Music Review: Marilyn Manson – Mechanical Animals

Mechanical Animals - Marilyn Manson

Taking an inspiration road turn, Marilyn Manson arrives with a new conceptual album in the form of “Mechanical Animals“. It’s cover features the lead singer MM showcased in an androgynous genital-less pose. In some respect it reminds me of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976)”, though I believe that conceptually it was the early 70s album “Ziggy Stardust” that inspired this release.

While clearly a tribute to his influences, “Mechanical Animals” … Continue reading

Top 10 Horror Films That Could Be Remade Effectively

basketcaseposter

Look, I’m not a fan of remakes. They tend to be rather pedestrian affairs with only the slightest amount of the originals’ power, and as such most are utter nonsense. Case in point would be remakes of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Amityville Horror, The Grudge, One Missed Call and any number of others in recent years.

The thing is, despite both critical reactions and box-office numbers … Continue reading
