With the inclusion of several 2011 TV series adding to the roster, the official “10 most frightening horror TV series ever made” has indeed changed within the last year. We of course have a few classics that will most likely never get topped (case in point – Kolchak: The Night Stalker), however the public interest in all things horror has gained momentum thus resulting in a network need to accommodate. With “The Walking Dead“, scaring … Continue reading
Celebrate the day! Being a long time follower of cult films over the years, I figured it was due time to create an appropriate Top 20 list of Cult Film Directors for readers who might “still” be seeking out worthy films to indulge in (Director collectives..that is). I knew creating this list that not every favorite cult director would make it on here (meaning in the public’s eye and that it was limited to 20). … Continue reading
Ok, you found your way here looking for some clarity on the whole demon possession thing. Well I’m hear to tell ya…… I don’t type haphazardly (and rather consider the details) . The subject has been analyzed and evaluated to qualify and disqualify common misconceptions.
First let’s be clear…demon possession is exactly that. That doesn’t mean possession if you “ARE” the antichrist (aka The Omen) that you are possessed, as therefore you’d be doing the … Continue reading
Got to love them 80’s! A tribute to a decade that introduced some of the most original and cheesy horror films in history. Thought you’ve seen them all? Think again with this updated list. HorrorNews.net has scoured the planet in the efforts of compiling a complete list of films and movies that released in the 1980’s. Looking for that lost gem? Remember the year but not the title? Make sure to check back … Continue reading
The 90’s came and went with a huge list of Horror Films in its wake. I’d be hard pressed to say I saw all of them let alone a 3rd of them. In keeping with our service to document and educate those in the genre, we have compiled a rather lengthy list of horror titles from that era. The list has been accumulated and alphabetized so that we can bring you the largest … Continue reading
We know how hard it is to get an extensive list from film eras (if not complete at that) especially when it comes to the horror genre. As part of our extensive review coverage movement here at HorrorNews.net, we have provided just that very list for collectors and horror enthusiasts. This list covers the 1970’s release titles. As the site grows we will continue in our quest to provide the largest horror … Continue reading
Ok, if you caught our cancellations and renewals list for Fall 2012 TV, you also might be curious as to what’s new coming down the pipe from the networks. Now we don’t have a ton to report on, though it has been reported that a hand full of “new” shows will debut this Fall that we felt would be of interest to our niche. This … Continue reading
As the 2012 Fall TV season rolls forward, we’ll have to say goodbye to a few decent genre “related” shows. Though with cancellation comes renewals as well, so hopefully this will help you plan your viewing nights appropriately. With the exception of 1 or 2, I hate to see any of these go…….but with that, let’s hope that there’s something more interesting to take their place for the genre fans. (please note: there may be … Continue reading
When I asked Horror News readers and Facebook friends to tell me their favourite vampire films, I received a terrific response. The suggestions poured in, and all kinds of weird, wonderful and outlandish films fronted up for selection. So while I can’t deny the quality or appeal of films like Planet Of The Vampires (1965), Count Yorga Vampire (1970), Vampyres (1974) or Shadow Of The Vampire (2000), I can only count it … Continue reading
The Walking Dead tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home. The world has changed and they need to figure out how to survive it. But they need to figure out how to survive one another.

In our quest to categorize great movie moments, the idea of chainsaw usage came to mind. Certainly there are more than 10 films with chainsaws being used, though this wood cutting device has been featured in a few that exceed expectations. Now out of fairness, this whole list could probably feature all Asian movies, as they tend to tack on chainsaws to body part pretty frequent. Though we limited it to 2 of the most … Continue reading
The following article is the third and final part of a three-part list of films featuring serial killers. I’ve deliberately avoided movies concerning ‘spree killers’, ‘obsessed fan’ films, and movies that contain supernatural elements. It is not intended to be a complete list nor terribly insightful, but a simple rundown of the best, worst and most interesting serial killer titles to be found, and I thank both Wikipedia and the Internet Movie … Continue reading

Okay, so I am sure that I am about to ignite a sh*t storm that will most likely include me getting tons of hate male threatening me and calling me a ton of derogatory names (as well as questioning my taste in movies and my sanity in general), but I wanted to put this list together anyway. Without further ado, here is my list of the 10Â most overrated horror movies of all time that most … Continue reading
Read our Historic Overview of Twin Peaks
An idiosyncratic FBI Agent investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks.
The body of a young girl (Laura Palmer) is washed up on a beach near the small Washington state town of Twin Peaks. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper is called in to investigate her strange demise only to uncover a web of mystery … Continue reading
What’s this? Your anticipating Valentines Day…and you want to load up on Valentines Day themed horror films? We are guessing that this list only gets really looked at 1 time a year, but hey…..you never know when you might be quizzed on coming up with titles for the event? We’ve scoured the masses and pulled up a “real” small hand full of Valentines Day movies that actually have something to do with Valentines day. Now … Continue reading
Asian horror films on the most part fall somewhere between “deep to my heart” to recycled nonsense. Though I do enjoy the thrill of weeding thru all the stinkers to find the gems. For anyone new to these, they present a special brand of fear and dread that is far removed from many Western releases. In fact, I’m quite confident in saying that Asian films tend to rule in the ghost and loony categories. Usually … Continue reading

DARKROOM aired from 1981 to 1982, each hour-long episode featuring two or more stories of varying length hosted by actor James Coburn. Starring Steve Allen, David Carradine, Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, June Lockhart and Esther Rolle, in stories of suspense and terror which … Continue reading
An anthology television series is a program that presents a different story with a different set of characters in each episode. These normally have different actors each week but some employed a permanent ensemble of actors who would appear in a different drama each week (like Four Star Playhouse). Others would have different actors and stories set in the same ‘shared world’ (like Welcome To Paradox). Many anthology shows would have a … Continue reading
You know the term well. The dreaded re-make! We are certainly in an era of history repeating itself. Though as in this list, history doesn’t always mean better. This list of turds is our tribute to the worst of the remakes to come along in the horror genre. As an incentive, many of these movies spawn from the influence of great films. So while they may not be up to par, the films they were … Continue reading
How things have changed. In the forties, for instance, one would find it difficult to name twenty good genre films of the decade but, since the late seventies, Hollywood has learned that their baby-booming audiences could not only handle strong horror and science fiction concepts, they craved them. Filmmakers everywhere went into overdrive. Like television today, there wasn’t a production house around that didn’t have at least one genre project in the making.
