Horror Actress: Grace Patterson

How did you get in to the horror industry?

Growing up horror films were my favorite! So when I started acting I was super interested in getting into some horror films. I auditioned for Sylance and got the part on the spot. That was my first experience on a horror film set.

What’s been the toughest role you had to do? And what made it tough? 

The hardest role I have had to do was probably Batgirl in a wonder women pilot I did. She was tough to portray because I couldn’t create my character from scratch since she has been around for a long time. I had to study, read comic books, and practice for months in advance.

How do you usually prepare for a character?

I prep for a character by doing my backstory, finding out exactly who the character is, what makes them that way, and then I score the script. What is the character really saying and trying to get from the scene? I put a lot of prep into my characters.

What is your biggest pet peeve about the film industry?

My biggest pet peeve of the industry is un-professionalism. This is a business and it should be treated like one. Stay professional at all times!

What are you up to next?

Up next I have a six flags commercial coming out and a short film Pressure! After that I am shooting SNOW and continuing to audition and train! I’m hoping my summer will be completely booked!

Grace caught the acting bug at 10 years old after being cast in a school theater production. She subsequently trained with the Children’s Theater of Dallas appearing in several stage productions before developing what would later become a passion for on-screen acting. In 2010, Grace was cast in the UTA production, UNLOVED, in which she played an emotionally-challenged foster child and has since appeared in several independent films including the feature film, SYLANCE.

Grace is committed to her development as an actor and is currently a student of the renowned acting coach Catherine Hartt with whom she studies acting for film and television on an on-going basis. “When I’m not actively working, I’m actively training. I want to fulfill my potential and become the best actor I can,” she said.

Grace is also an accomplished dancer (including jazz, ballet and hip hop) making her a true double threat.
