The long awaited Silent Hill sequel is finally green lighted and being made in conjunction with Lionsgate, Konami, and Davis Films. This time it is will be written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, whose credits include Deathwatch and Wilderness . Roger Avery was originally slated for that role but was serving time for Manslaughter and a DUI conviction.
This latest film will of course be done in 3D and will not be picking up where the first one left off. Instead it’s picking up on the story that Silent Hill 3 told in the video game franchise. That makes the story this: “For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.”
Fans are hoping for a more true to the game story and we shall see if Michael Bassett can deliver that. He is taking on a sequel to a highly divided original. People either love it or hate it but everyone has an opinion one way or the other.
