Interview: Paul Logan (The Horde)

You play the character John Crenshaw in the upcoming movie, The Horde. Could you tell us a little about the movie and your character?

THE HORDE is an Action/Horror film that is a cross between THE HILLS HAVE EYES and RAMBO. My character is an Ex-Navy SEAL who has given up the life to be with his fiancé and is tagging along on a nature photography field trip that her college class is on in the beautiful, deep woods of Saphire Lake.

All is great until our camp is attacked by a horde of vicious, cannibalistic , mutated humans that leave me for dead and take the rest of our group. Unarmed and alone, I have to become the killing machine that I once was to save my finance and the group. It’s a roller coaster of terror and action that will keep the audience on the edge of their seat for the whole ride.

TheHorde Poster Final-V22. You are also the writer of The Horde. Could you tell us what inspired you to write this particular story?

What inspired this script was I thought most horror films are the same. It’s a bunch of kids going into the woods, the killer or the killers hunt them down one at a time until there is usually one girl left and she gets away. We’ve seen it a million times. But we’ve seen it million times because that’s what the horror audience wants, expects and enjoys.

So I thought, what would happen if you had the same scenario, a bunch of kids out on a photography field trip in the woods with their teacher. A bunch of mutant, cannibalistic killers hunting them down but one person in their group was ex-special forces, was a Navy SEAL and can turn the hunters into the hunted. You have all of the boo scares, terror and gore of a horror film and all of the extreme action of an action movie as well as a cool love story. Its a perfect hybrid.

3. How long did it take you to write The Horde?
I wrote it pretty quickly. About 4 weeks from idea to finished script… It just flowed.

4. What was in like working with director, Jared Cohn?

Working with Jared was awesome. Such a great guy and amazing director. It was so good to collaborate with him and bring the pages to life so vividly. Jared is an actor’s director, he gives freedom to do your thing and still keeps everyone in the world of the script. Our D.P. Laura Beth Love made all the shots look Incredible.

5. What was the most difficult obstacle to overcome during the making of The Horde?

I think the biggest obstacle was time. We shot the movie very quickly. Our amazing cast and crew were so great and made every day rock. Jared and I planned out everything, there was no wasted time.

6. If a fan just walked out of the theater after watching The Horde, what would you want them to say about the film?

I would want them to say that “That movie was Awesome!!! It scared the shit out of me and Kicked Ass!!!”

7. When are fans going to be able to see The Horde?
Soon.

8. You have a fun history of making various horror movies. Can you tell us, what was your very favorite horror movie from your childhood?

Definitely JAWS… Love that movie. It Still holds its own til this day.

9. Who are your influences in the movie industry?
I love all of the classic action heroes… Stallone, Schwartzenegger, Van Damme for the action as well as Statham and Dwane Johnson now. I also love De Niro, Pacino, Depp for their acting. I want to have my characters be real, vulnerable, believable but still kick ass. I think Hugh Jackman is a great example of that.

10. What other Paul Logan projects should we be on the look out for?

I have COBRAGATOR coming out for Syfy with Michael Madsen and my next one that I wrote is THE EDGE OF MADNESS…. It’s DIEHARD in an Asylum. It rocks!!
