What is your favorite Giant Monster Movie? That is the question co-hosts Doc Rotten and Dave Dreher examine in this episode of the Monster Movie Podcast. Taking a look back at their favorite horror and science fictions films that feature giant versions of spiders, ants, bears and even humans, Doc and Dave discuss eight films that illustrate a variety of ways simple creatures are mutated into monstrous, hungry beasts.
“Science is agreed. That unless something is done and done quickly, man as the dominant species on Earth will be extinct within a year.” – THEM!
Editor’s note: Godzilla has been excluded from the following list for two reasons. One, there is a high profile US remake of the Toho favorite coming out in 2014 which will be the topic a number of Monster Movie Podcast episodes in the comings year. And, two, if included, the show was in danger of becoming dominated by the popular lizard. So, fear not Godzilla fans, the Monster Movie Podcast will be discussing Gojira in the coming months!!
Here is the list of movies covered in episode 60 of the Monster Movie Podcast:
- Them! (1954)
- Tarantula (1955)
- King Kong (1933)
- Prophecy (1979)
- Tremors (1990)
