The Real Reason For The Delay On CARRIE Is Revealed

If you all remember correctly the “re imagining” of CARRIE was originally slated for a March release and when word broke that it would be postponed till October we all assumed it was to bring this horror film to the fans during the haunt season and it all made sense. But, according to star Chloe Grace Moretz it was done to allow time for some re shoots that she feels really benefited the remake.

She spoke with Fango:

“We actually prolonged the film, to be honest. We did some reshoots and added three extra scenes with Julianne and I to make the movie even deeper and darker. We prolonged a couple of scenes that needed to have an extra moment or an extra beat just to make it even deeper. It wasn’t about cutting anything out or trying to edit around things; it was about adding more to make the movie scarier and more intense.”

As horror fans we’ve been kind of pre programed to wince when we hear the word “re shoots” but lets take Chloe’s word for it at this point and assume it has made things all better.

We’ll know soon enough as CARRIE debuts Oct. 18th.

The official synopsis reads:

“Carrie tells the supernatural tale of a telekinetic teenage girl tormented by her peers. The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.“
