Indie Filmmakers Discover New Ways to Create While Social Distancing

Independent film producers Koa Aloha Media have announced the start of production for a feature film entitled “Social Distance.” This movie is a suspenseful thriller that examines the slow slide and unravelling into insanity people can experience when isolated for extended periods.

Director B. Luciano Barsuglia said, “I wanted to bring the community of creators and actors I work with together during this time to create a social and interactive movie while in isolation.” Barsuglia was in the middle of pre-production on another feature, but that has since been put on hold, and “Social Distance” is in full effect. “This is a chance for us to do something different and unique,” Barsuglia further noted, “Cast and crew are excited about creating in this way.”

“Social Distance” follows a public relations and marketing team who gather via the world of video conferencing in a last-ditch effort to save a doomed cruise line following COVID-19 fallout. Over the course of time, the team realizes they might be uncovering a sordid conspiracy. However, as they become stir crazy from isolation, they are no longer sure if it’s a conspiracy they are unravelling or themselves.

The movie stars Jed Rowen, Tasha Tacosa, Rachel Riley, Kasey Brown, Christine Ashley McGee and Shawn Patrick McGee.

Koa Aloha Media hopes for a quick turnaround and have the movie ready for a late summer or early fall release. Barsuglia’s recent efforts include “Impact Event” which is being released worldwide in April and features Michael Berryman and Richard Grieco; and “Jekyll and Hyde” which will be released worldwide later this year and features the final film role of Mickey Rooney.

From cast and crew to crowdfunding, Koa Aloha Media is inviting people to get involved with the project at http://socialdistancemovie.com
