Horror Equity Fund, Inc. (HEF) has just announced that Rich Thorne has joined the team to helm their contained horror feature DON’T LET THE BEDBUGS BITE! The movie, written by Ron Brawer and Shakir Farsakh, tells the tale of a handful of high school students trapped in an abandoned storage facility with mutated bedbugs.
Thorne is a veteran of the film and television industry as a Director (Ghost Mother, Dr. Doolittle 3), 2nd Unit Director (Hitman: Agent 47, Dragonballs, Daredevil), Visual Effects Supervisor (Idiocracy, Joe Somebody, Here on Earth), and 20th Century Fox Production Executive on over 175 feature films including Planet of the Apes, Fantastic Four, X-Men. Rich is one of the key developers of the digital visual effects industry spanning more than a decade. Coincidentally, among the dozens of commercials to Rich’s credit stands a multiple-spot national campaign for pest control powerhouse Terminix.
“Rich really knows how to watch the budgetary bottom line.” said HEF CEO Marlon Schulman. “He has the background and experience to make a million-dollar film look like ten million. When we coupled that skill with his extensive FX knowledge and his experience behind the camera, we knew he was the perfect choice for Don’t Let the Bedbugs Bite!”
” I’ve been looking for a teen comedy/horror project that utilizes humor to misdirect – and a frightening foe to terrify the mass audience and my kids in a relatable way! This is a high-concept horror film that’s going to surprise a lot of people, so, “Don’t Let the Bedbugs Bite!”
The film is slated to begin production late 2018/early 2019.
