We wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who came out for the Second Annual Women In Horror Month Celebration last weekend at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA!
Here is what some of the girls had to say:
What an honor it was to be invited to the Dark Del’s Women in Horror Celebration with some of the most well respected multitalented ladies in the business. This event was special to me, not only for the fantastic company of powerful women, but the strong charity ties of the event. The food drive organized by Del, Sue, Reyna and Dai was a huge success, and I was completely blown away by the relentless generosity of the girls and the fans for my clothing drive. I was doing a routine closet organization in my Hollywood condo when I realized I was running out of space – it was then that I got the idea to not just donate some of my wardrobe, but really dig deep, and go for broke. I invited a few of my friends, and the word spread like wildfire via facebook about the clothing drive. I have ties with Covenant house dating years back from my work with C.L.U.B., and so when I contacted them, they were thrilled to benefit from this year’s event. Just for fun I put up a little youtube video while I was in Hawaii shooting, and the next thing we knew, we had amassed over 10,000 items of clothing, toiletries, and household items for the homeless youth of Los Angeles. Over 10,000 items. Almost everyone who walked in the door was laden down with donations. Again, I am blown away by the support of the girls and the fans. We’ve proven once again the horror club is a strong family, with a big huge bleeding heart.
I’m looking forward to next year, and all the projects between now and then with great friends and family. Thank you Dai and Reyna, for organizing this event. It truly was a huge success. Congrats to everyone.
I was honored to be a part of the Women in Horror Celebration which was held at Dark Delicacies on February 12th. I was impressed by the turn out and support of the local horror community, friends and fans. It was also good to see people coming together for a good cause to donate much needed goods for The Covenant House and local food banks. I believe the amount of donations received and the group of people who attended, made the event a success. I also, enjoyed having one eye hanging out of my bloody, gouged face thanks to the magic of Melissa Krimsky. Thank you to all that came and to my counterparts. More importantly, thank you Dai Green and Reyna Young for making the event happen.
I loved the WIH Event at Dark Delicacies. A gigantic thank you to Dai Green and Reyna Young for including me in the festivities and of course to Del and Sue Howison for being such rockin’ hosts! We had a fantastic turn out and the clothing and food drive kicked ass! Kenneth Hall and his girlfriend literally cleaned house and brought box after box in of clothes they donated. Jason Bene’ of Killer Film.com brought in a bunch of clothes, including un-used diapers. Tara Cardinal had a great idea to include the clothing drive and I think the Covenant House benefitted a great deal from our event, which is something we should all be proud of. I loved getting to see my fellow girls in horror like Brooke Lewis and a few of the fellas too, of course, including Kevin Tenney. The amount of support and kinship in that room was utterly amazing. It was a great example that chicks in horror flicks can ban together, kick some serious ass and have fun doing so!
Just wanted to say quickly how amazing it was to be a part of this event, I was amazed with all the donations for Covenent House and Canned food items we were able to get, and I had such a BLAST meeting all of the amazing women in attendance as well as networking with fellow artists. Thank you so much for inviting me, and thanks to all of the amazing women who worked so hard to put this together and make it out for this event. I hope to be a part of this next year!
I had an amazing time re-uniting with my hottest colleagues in the business! Thank You everyone who showed their support & attended with
donations & kindness. Hope to see you all again in 2012!”
You can listen to Brooke Lewis say THANK YOU in her own voice here:
I know there are a lot of different events that happen in celebration of Women In Horror Month but I can honestly say that I can’t see ours going any different than it did. We banded together, had a chance to get to know those we may not have known in the first place, and did some good for the community. That is a perfect event if you ask me.
Great things happen when great minds get together. I can’t wait until we all meet again. And hopefully next time, we will see even MORE of you.
Xox,
Dai
