Interview: Loey Lane (Internet Urban Legends)

Hi Loey, oh my gosh, I’m so excited. I love the Podcast, Internet Urban Legends. I grew up and had quite a few experiences, despite being a skeptical-believer. I had so many experiences with the paranormal. Why did you decide to do the podcast?

L.L.- Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with Eleanor and I about our podcast, Internet Urban Legends! I love that despite being skeptical you’ve had paranormal experiences – I’m a believer in everything, so it’s really cool, to me when people that are hesitant to dive into the paranormal also have wild stories to share. Doing this podcast was a no-brainer for me, as I love all things spooky and dark, especially online. I also get to record it weekly with my best friend, which is definitely a plus!

I think it is difficult sometimes to just be a “believer”. You have had experiences and you do believe. Do you find yourself being skeptical?

L.L.-Even as someone who fully believes in ghosts, demons, heck, maybe even vampires and werewolves while I’m at it, I do find myself getting a bit skeptical over bumps in the night as I get older. I find myself rationalizing away experiences much more than I used to, blaming it on being “tired” or faulty pipes or something. I truly believe most of the time though that’s out of just not wanting to scare myself silly 100% of the time.

What has been your favorite part of working on the podcast so far?

L.L.- My favorite part of working on the podcast has been learning about new things alongside my closest friend in the world! It’s so cool to share this experience and basically give her a presentation in the form of the podcast every week. I love that our listeners are learning right alongside us, and that they give us their own feedback after each episode.

What do you want to say to your fans? What would you want people to know from your perspective?

If I could say one thing to anyone who might be a fan of my work or the kind of stuff I talk about online, it would be a simple thank you! Supporting a creator is the best thing anyone can do if they want to see more of the things they create, and the people that follow me are so generous with their time and attention. It never goes unnoticed!

I love your videos on YouTube because you do have some great discussions and I love the stories. What has been the scariest experience you had with the paranormal?

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my little old videos! I’ve had truly so many experiences, but I think to this day the scariest one was when I lived in an old farmhouse in rural Georgia that I reference a lot in my videos. It was so haunted and just had the worst energy that somehow got worse and worse as time went on. I had just bought motion detecting light up hoodies that lit up when you walked – in my closet one night as I was lying in bed, I watched one of those hoodies go off, then another. They were at opposite ends of the closet, and it was as if something was pacing back and forth. I was alone in that room for sure aside from my cat lying in bed with me. I still think about it all the time.

Who inspires you professionally?

L.L.- Professionally, I’m so inspired by Eleanor. I know, I know, we’re besties and co-hosts so maybe it comes across as cheesy, but she is one of the hardest-working people I know. Her work ethic is truly inspiring, and I love that she’s never afraid to try out something new.

What is it like working with Eleanor? How did the two of you meet?

L.L.- On that note, working with Eleanor has been absolutely wonderful. We met through our manager and it’s been so cool having something to work on together after being friends for so many years. The podcast truly feels like we are just hanging out in our rooms on facetime, but with more microphones and equipment involved.

What other projects are you working on?

L.L.- My latest project is a YouTube series called Face the Horror that is two episodes deep on my channel LoeyLane right now! Every week I look into a creepy entity or monster from the internet and create a makeup look based off of it! Right now, I’m working on my favorite SCP Foundation entities, and while I do my makeup I talk about their stories. It’s inspired by Bailey Sarian’s Murder, Mystery and Makeup series!
