REVIEW:

More short films, kiddies! Today we have SURVIVING THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE WITH MATHEMATICS, directed by Kieran Bentley.

So this is a film from the University of Sheffield in the UK, in which a team of mathematicians explains the odds of survival in the undead uprising based on calculations and charts. I’m not sure if it was created as someone’s doctoral thesis project or just as a public service, but its really funny and actually informative.

The mathematicians use their calculations to work out the odds of survival based on the many methods we’ve seen in the movies – fighting, hiding, etc – and compare all of this to the models of infectious diseases.

There is humour, and yes there are zombies.

I don’t know if I would call this a horror film. More of an educational film using horror and comedy to teach a lesson about math and public health.

And you know what…I’m ok with that. Its fun to watch and you might just learn something.
