Anchor Bay Rounds up the Halloween Frights!

I’m sure you’ve caught a few of the releases from this team, though with Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start “stalking” up on frights! Those Halloween marathon runs…. an absolute favorite part of celebrating the best time of year to confront your fears and phobias… Without further ado, check out the range of titles arriving from the darkest corners of Anchor Bay.

247°F (Blu-ray™ & DVD, October 23rd)

Anchor Bay Films presents a claustrophobic horror film that gives you no choice but to sweat with 247°F. Jenna (Scout Taylor-Compton, Rob Zombie’s Halloween & Halloween II) and her three friends travel to a lakeside cabin for a carefree weekend. The fun quickly becomes a nightmare when they end up locked in a compact, hot sauna. Every minute counts and every degree matters as they fight for their lives in heat that is quickly approaching 247°F – the temperature when the human body expires.

Bait 3D is a fun and action-packed thrill ride featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D), Alex Russell (Chronicle), and Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four). EXCISION (Blu-ray™ and DVD; October 16th)

Anchor Bay Films presents the most unnerving psychological horror film of the year with Richard Bates, Jr.’s Excision. Excision turned critics’ stomachs as well as heads, garnering much attention at festivals around the world this past year after premiering at Sundance in January, with the most recent being Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. Excision follows a disturbed and delusional high school student, Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord). Pauline, with aspirations of a career in medicine, goes to extremes to earn the approval of her controlling mother (Traci Lords). While dealing with both being an outcast teenager and having an obsession over curing her sister’s cystic fibrosis, Pauline becomes increasingly deranged as her fascination with surgery and flesh and blood grows into something compulsive and demonic.

MOTHER’S DAY 1980 Original (Blu-ray™ and DVD; available)

The 1980 Troma cult classic Mother’s Day is available for the first time on Blu-ray™. Featuring an all-new HD transfer, and never-before-seen bonus features, including commentary, behind-the-scenes footage, and a newly created featurette with genre favorite Eli Roth (Producer of The Last Exorcism, Grindhouse and Hostel 1 & 2), fans can finally add this long-awaited cult classic to their library, and new fans can experience the terror of Mother and her bloodthirsty boys for the first time.

SOME GUY WHO KILLS PEOPLE (DVD; available)

From Executive Producer John Landis comes one of the best reviewed horror films of 2012: the gory, hilarious and surprisingly heart-warming thriller Some Guy Who Kills People. Ken Boyd (Kevin Corrigan) may seem like an average comic enthusiast, living with his mother and working to make ends meet as an underpaid soda jerk. Anchor Bay Films unleashes the provocative and gritty grindhouse thriller The Victim, the feature directorial debut of genre icon and fan favorite Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, Tombstone).
