Full Redband Coolness from MANIAC

We’ve talked about the remake a lot. Probably given it more attention than any other remake of the last several years but the more I see, the more I like this one.

MANIAC is one sick ass story and man it sure looks like for this remake, they embraced the crazy! I haven’t kept my thoughts on the casting of Elijah Wood in the role made infamous by Joe Spinell. I have questioned it since day one but again, everything I’m seeing looks stellar.

Tonight I’ve got the full bloody drenched trailer for you. It’s a pretty disturbing piece of work.

Story wise, there seem to be sticking pretty close to the original:

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

There hasn’t been any announced release info yet but the film just played Cannes so I’m guessing someone should be picking this one up in pretty short order so keep it here, when the info hits I’ll pass it along.
