Celebrate Halloween By Watching John Carpenter’s First Take Of The Opening For HALLOWEEN

Remember back in the summer when some of that awesome “never before seen” footage from John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN popped up online? Well, that dude that gave us that, Billy Kirkus, has given us all a nice little Halloween night surprise. How would you like to see John Carpenter’s first pass at the now infamous opening scene for his 1978 classic? We’ve got you covered.

Kirkus posted this with the video:

Happy Halloween Everyone! This is the first take of the opening to Halloween. This was the first time they tried shooting it, without the cuts that they did in take number 2. They only shot this whole scene twice. Notice all of the blue in the picture…completely toned down for the recent release of the movie on Bluray. Want to see more of the “Unseen Halloween?” Contact Trancas International Films and tell them you want to see the “Unseen Halloween.” Very Special Thanks to James G. Chandler and of course the wonderful Don May, Jr and Synapse Films.

Happy Halloween Everyone!!

Found this really cool artwork HERE. It’s for Carpenter’s original but done in the fashion of the Zombie remake. I always liked the remake poster art and now I can own it for the version of the film I like…..

  1. What the heck? It was pulled off vimeo already?!! I didn’t get a chance to see it. This is a true treasure for any hardcore “Halloween” fan to see this footage.
