Death House is one of the most anticipated horror films. The greatest names in horror have been rounded up to appear in both feature and cameo roles to fill out a film that serves as a horror time capsule. While the media dubbed it “The Expendables of Horror” it is NOT a gimmick film.
A solid script propels a fresh story cast with some of the most iconic names in the genre. The city of Philadelphia is ground zero for Holmesburg Prison, and served as the “Death House.” The film’s practical special effects are done by the team of SOTA FX who worked on Ed Wood, Gods and Monsters and the upcoming Friday the 13th TV series.
Rick Finkelstein of Entertainment Factory worked one on one with Gunnar Hansen to acquire the property and through two script drafts. Finkelstein talked with Gunnar in the last week of his life, giving the present script by Harrison Smith, his blessing.
“Make promotions for the film on my grave if you have to,” Hansen told Rick and his agent, Michael Eisenstadt. Since then Entertainment Factory’s Rick Finkelstein and Steven Chase endeavored to bring all of these famous names to the fold and a completed film.
Two federal agents fight their way through nine levels of Hell inside a secret prison known as the Death House. A facility-wide prison break turns their flight into a tour of horrors as they push toward the ultimate evil housed in the lowest depths of the earth.
