Any young horror fan is familiar with the classic SCHOLASTIC book SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK. It’s a staple in any up and coming horror fans library. News broke tonight that CBS FILMS have picked up the option for a pitch by genre faves Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
Deadline is reporting that the writing duo will adapt the book “into a screenplay about a group of outcast kids who stand up to their fears to save their town when nightmares come to life.”
Always excited for a new Dunstan/Melton project. Much more on this one as the guys gear up to get this one moving.

The wonders of something like this: A classic book/short stories etc. made into a movie will encourage (especially young) people to go back to the book…..and nothing like the imagination to bring to life (via the unconscious, our own fears) true horror. Horror that haunts us all. That is why it is so real. So tangible. and a Hell of a lot of fun!
Or this is gonna be like World War Z where they only use the name and make up some random crap and use the title to sell ratings…..
