Coming to us from author Stephine Meyer’s that lady behind the amazingly successful TWILIGHT books is this alien tale that most seem to being trying to compare to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS but personally rings much truer to V for my money. It’s titled THE HOST and while it does have to do with aliens inhabiting the earth bound there is much more focus on the resistance and those involved in it then in the actual invasion itself.
Obviously tailored to the “tween” audience that made the TWILIGHT series so popular or as I Like to call them “horror fans in training” THE HOST appears it might be a little more tolerable for an older audience and it doesn’t appear that any of the aliens “sparkle”.

Starring Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, Jake Abel, Max Irons, Boyd Holbrook, and Frances Fisher and directed by Andrew Niccol the story is as follows:
Synopsis:
The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie (Ronan), one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
You’ll be packing the kids in the car and heading to the mall on March 29th to check this one out.
