Special Events in NYC Area to Coincide with Key Horror Anniversary
This past Friday, September 30th marked exactly 100 days until January 7, 2012. And that day is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Samuel Addams. He was born in Westfield, New Jersey, and lived there for the next 20 plus years. He worked for The New Yorker Magazine and was one of the best cartoonists of the 20th century. Less than 5% of his drawings were about this strange, weird family. That “family” became THE ADDAMS FAMILY in 1964, when they debuted on television.
Several special events has been planned to honor this great artist. First, four tickets to THE ADDAMS FAMILY A NEW MUSCIAL have been donated by the producer. The face value is over $240.00. The tickets are for the Sunday, October 30, 2011 matinee performance at 3 pm. An auction will be held, starting this Friday, October 7th until Friday, October 21st. Bidding will start at $100. Go to ronmac55@aol.com, in the subject line please print TIX BID. List your name, contact information and how much you want to bid. The highest bidder by midnight on 10/21 will get the tickets. You must be able to pick them up at the ticket window on the day of the performance. All the money will go to The Charles Addams Art Scholarship.
A special display of Addams Family collectibles will be in Westfield at The Elm Street field. This will be a part of the Halloween parade, also on Sunday, October 30. The display will include cut-outs of characters and a custom made wooden house that is three times the size of the model house.
A lecture about Addams which will be open to the public will be given at The Westfield Public Library on Mr. Addams birthday, January 7, 2012 at 2 pm.
