In 1988 Namco brought to the world a rare gem in the crown of video gaming titled SPLATTERHOUSE. The game was popular because of its controversial content that included religious imagery and extreme (for its time) blood and gore. SPLATTERHOUSE was the first of its kind to ever receive an advisory sticker on the front cover of its TurboGrafx-16 port warning parents of the shocking content that lurked within.
Now Namco Bandai Games America has infused some fresh blood to splatter about in the series and with the help of heavy metal music and even more gore, has put the fractured pieces of the Terror Mask back together again for a new generation of gamers. SPLATTERHOUSE is available in all of its uncensored glory for the Playstation 3 and XBOX-360 systems and is rated M for Mature.
Synopsis:
“Follow Rick and his mystical Terror Mask as he unmercifully tears, cuts and beats his way through denizens of unearthly creatures in an epic adventure to rescue his girlfriend from the clutches of deranged occult figure Dr. West. Embodying the unfiltered, primal aggression of its namesake, Splatterhouse combines visceral, adrenaline-soaked combat with horror elements to deliver an original gaming experience that defies the boundaries of the traditional action category with over the-top gore and shocking new gameplay mechanics.”

Unfortunately it’s pretty mediocre and disappointing. I’ve been playing it all day to review it, and as a fan of the older games, it never rises above average. It has some very good features, but DO NOT pay full price for it. Unless you’re buyin’ my copy, heh heh.
