‘Fever’ (aka ‘Mountain Fever’), is an end of the world thriller about a man out of his depth. Inspired by the action cinema of James Cameron and the minimalism of Nicolas Winding Refn, and heavily influenced by apocalyptic fare like ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘The Road’, ‘Fever’ follows Jack (Tom Miller), a hapless young Brit as he takes refuge from a deadly pandemic in a snowy Alpine village. Ill-equipped to survive the harsh winter, things only get worse when renegade Kara (Anya Korzun) breaks into his house and commandeers his dwindling food supplies.
His inept plan to get rid of her disintegrates when outsiders (Julien Caplan) also invade, turning his captor into his only ally. As a siege ensues Jack must choose a side if he hopes to survive. ‘Fever’ is the debut feature film from writer and director Hendrik Faller, and was shot in Monnetier-Mornex, a small town in the mountains of Haute-Savoie, France. ‘Fever’ screened at FrightFest in 2017 where it received a strong reception, described by the Hollywood News as “claustrophobic… a fantastic debut”; as “gripping and chilling” by LiveForFilms; and “an excellent, tension filled struggle” by Britflicks, who also named it their favourite British film of the festival on their podcast roundup.
SciFi now said of the film, “this Alpine apocalypse takes a sledgehammer to hope in humanity”. The film was also the recipient of two awards at the 2017 Unrestricted View Film Festival for Best Director (Hendrik Faller) and Best Actress in a Feature Film (Anya Korzun).
Writer and Director Hendrik Faller says “We camped out in the French Alps for three weeks in the midst of winter. We wanted to make every second of our snowbound thriller an epic and violent ride for our viewers. The pain the actors go through in the film is real, and I think audiences are going to be on the edge of their seats from the get go.” Chee Keong Cheung, Managing Director of Intense Distribution says “We are delighted to be supporting such a talented new director in Hendrik Faller and are excited to bring his impressive debut feature ‘Fever’ to UK fans of the genre.”
James Shimmin, Managing Director of Signal One Entertainment says “It’s a great psychological horror with a fantastic European cast which will be a must see for horror fans!” Faller adds, “We are thrilled to be working with Signal One Entertainment and Intense Distribution in bringing ‘Fever’ home to U.K. audiences. I think the violent adventures of our quintessentially British lead struggling to survive in an apocalyptic Europe is really going to give the Brexit generation a great deal of joy and quite a few chills.” ‘Fever’ is released on DVD on March 12th and on iTunes on 30th April.
