Sean Leonard

Sean is an established punk rock drummer, a just-starting-but-already published fiction writer, a passable horror movie actor (by actor, we mean extra), and, of course, a horror writer/reviewer. But more than any of that, he's a fan at heart. If you watch a horror movie with him, he'll drive you crazy connecting actors and writers and directors to other actors and writers and directors. He lives in Kentucky with his horror-loving wife, his soon-to-be horror loving stepson (he has such sights to show him...once he gets older), and his dogs who could go either way on most horror movies, and yes, he does recognize that he is one lucky s.o.b.

Film Review: Toobox Murders (2004)

SYNOPSIS: A historic Hollywood hotel houses a supernatural evil. It’s been subdued for decades – but when renovations start, a series of murders take place. It’s up to our heroine to solve the mystery. REVIEW: The 2004 version of Toolbox Murders is a very loose remake of Dennis Donnelly’s 1978 film of the same name (strangely enough, it was Donnelly’s …

Film Review: Exitus Interruptus (2006)

SYNOPSIS: Der Tod ist erst der Anfang, Exitus interruptus – Exit death is just the beginning. Another gory exploitaton film by Andreas Bethmann REVIEW: I’m beginning to believe that Andreas Bethmann has really only made two movies, but just keeps remaking each one with different actors and extended scenes. Of course, I’m exaggerating, but he definitely does have his favorite …

Film Review: Vulgar (2000)

SYNOPSIS: A man who performs as a children’s birthday party clown tries to piece his life back together after being gang-raped. REVIEW: For a movie that has such a cool intro – credits roll over a disembodied clown nose, while subtle, creepy music plays under the visuals, making you think of a number of 1980’s slasher classics – Vulgar certainly …

Film Review: Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks (1976)

Book Review: There’s No Happy Ending – Author Tiffany Scandal

Ever since reading Gabino Iglesias’ Gutmouth, I’ve been more and more interested in the New Bizarro Author Series (NBAS for short) put together by Eraserhead Press. Without beating a dead horse, what they do is give a chance to promising new authors who haven’t yet published their first novel. With five to seven releases each year, we get a fresh …

Film Review: Gut Pile (1997)

Book Review: The Green Kangaroos – Author Jessica McHugh

My first encounter with the writing of Jessica McHugh showed me an inventive horror short story called Food For Thought. Turns out, that’s just a tiny part of the McHughniverse. There’s also Pins, a suspenseful dark thriller involving strip clubs and bowling alleys. There’s the young adult mystery/thriller, Rabbits in the Garden. There’s her trip into the world of steampunk, …
