Okay, this one was a lot of fun.
Dead Janitor’s Club, from co-directors Devon Downs and Kenny Gage, is a darkly funny crime film that takes a pretty wild premise and runs with it. Based on Jeff Klima’s real-life memoir, the story follows Jeff, a cash-strapped crime scene cleaner who gets himself into serious trouble after taking a mysterious safe from a bloody crime scene. Unfortunately for him, the safe belongs to a dangerous drug cartel. From there, things go from bad to really freaking bad.

What I enjoyed most about this movie is the combination of crime, dark comedy and just enough chaos to keep things moving. There’s a great sense of humor running throughout the story, but it never loses the darker side of what these characters are getting themselves into. Felix Merback is great as Jeff, and Jake Busey is clearly having a blast as the crooked cop Dirk. Brianna Gage also brings a lot to the story as Kerry, who unfortunately finds herself pulled into Jeff’s increasingly complicated mess, and I have to give a big shout-out to Devon and Kenny. I’ve known these two personally for a while, so I’m admittedly a little biased here — but watching them take this crazy true-life story and turn it into such an entertaining movie was pretty damn satisfying.

Dead Janitor’s Club is funny, messy, violent and completely entertaining. It’s the kind of movie where you can sit back, enjoy the ride and watch one bad decision after another turn into an even bigger problem. A really fun crime comedy with a great cast and plenty of personality. I had a blast with this one and highly recommend checking it out.

The film releases on August 28th, so make sure to take this one for a ride when it becomes available – I promise you, it’ll be worth the watch.
