Release synopsis:
Zerofriends co-founder Alex Pardee returns with a collection of some of the most horrifying and iconic characters of film, video games and comics with Doppelgangers. The monograph displays a parade of serial killers, demons, aliens and psychopaths, from early Universal monsters in melancholy black and white to modern horrors captured in full bloody color.
The freaks of cult classics rub shoulders with the slick killers of modern blockbusters, all captured with Pardee s signature deranged style and a sense of childlike delight. Nostalgia and terror mix with the blood, guts and slime that drip from the collection s pages, but above all, Pardee s tongue-in-cheek humor shines through, with characters like Space Balls Dark Helmet jostling for space alongside the Thing, Hannibal Lector and Godzilla. In Doppelgangers, Pardee invites us to get cozy with the evil twins and dark doubles of pop culture.

Alex Pardee has created some of the most remarkable sketches and drawings in horror for as long as I can remember. Stylistic, macabre, artistically comedic and darkly brooding, his art has long entertained whether it was for illustrative purpose or his bizarre comic book releases. His latest book came over recently titled: Alex Pardee’s Doppelgangers; which on all accounts is purely a book of illustrations paying tribute to just about every horror icon or villain he could think of. The pages come alive as you turn from 1 familiar monster to the next as each page centralizes its illustration to a single entity.
While most will purchase this purely for artistic quality, I found it also serves as a great conversation starter as you try and guess the name or films that each figure is repsentative of. A perfect coffe table book and general art lover inclusion.
