SCREAMIFY PULLS BACK THE CURTAIN WITH “BEHIND THE SCREAMS” — A NEW DOCUSERIES CAPTURING THE MAKING OF ITS GROUNDBREAKING MICRO HORRORS™ DEBUT, AUTONOMOUS
Screamify, the independent horror streaming platform, today announced Behind the Screams, an ongoing behind-the-scenes docuseries launching on Screamify that takes viewers inside the creative chaos of independent horror production — beginning with an in-depth look at the making of Autonomous, the platform’s flagship 20-episode horror event filmed inside a functioning driverless car currently operating on public roads.
Behind the Screams follows the Autonomous production from concept to completion, capturing the creative and logistical challenges of producing a horror series in an environment no one has ever filmed in before. From navigating real autonomous vehicle technology to directing actors locked inside an autonomous car, the docuseries reveals every pivotal moment behind Screamify’s most ambitious original to date.
Developed by the Screamify Originals team in Nashville, TN and produced by Erin Áine and Kyle Valle of Big Squid Productions, Autonomous stars Erin Áine and Domenic Jungling as a couple riding in the backseat of a driverless vehicle after a night out. Distracted by a heated argument, they fail to notice the car silently rerouting. By the time they realize something is wrong, the vehicle has taken them far off course. The ride-share app begins to glitch. Controls disappear. The doors won’t respond. They find themselves locked inside as the car continues driving deeper into unfamiliar territory.
What begins as relationship tension spirals into psychological survival as the machine refuses to relinquish control. Behind the Screams captures how the production team brought this nightmare to life — blending intimate character drama with real-world technology that demanded entirely new approaches to filming, sound design, and performance.
Autonomous is one of three original Micro Horrors™ projects slated to premiere on Screamify. Additional installments include Game Night, a 24-episode slasher series written and directed by Trent Duncan of Venture Court Productions, starring Connor Sherman, Erin Taylor, Aubrey Nicole Plummer, Morgan Flanagan, and Cheyenne Autumn Hess as the Slasher, as well as Scary Mary, a vertically formatted horror series from viral creators Joshua Alden and his sister Brandi Alden, who have amassed over 7 million followers across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram with their fresh, genre-defying take on one of horror’s most iconic urban legends.
Micro Horrors™ represents a new storytelling format built specifically for mobile-native audiences — vertically shot, episodic horror designed for immersive viewing inside Screamify’s iOS and Android apps. The slate will roll out later this year exclusively on Screamify.
With this initiative, Screamify continues to expand the boundaries of independent horror — redefining not only how horror is consumed, but where it can unfold.
