The only film fest in the world inspired by Rod Serling’s “Night Gallery”, featuring awesome short films, awesome artwork and an awful Rod Serling impersonator is back! This is our 4th year and we’re expanding! Not only are we doing the show described below, but we’ll also be doing one in the Pittsburgh area on November 1st at the Parkway Theater.
Devil’s Night Gallery is an independent film and art show which takes its name from its two inspirations. The first is “Night Gallery”, a classic, horror anthology television series, hosted by Rod Serling, from the ‘70s. The second is the aggressively independent spirit of the city of Detroit, represented by the ominous “Devil’s Night”.
Like the namesake tv series, Devil’s Night Gallery will feature screenings of short films preceded by an introduction and the reveal of an original piece of art inspired by the film. We received film submissions from around the world for this event but narrowed it down to 10, from Michigan and beyond, which best represented the experience of the “Night Gallery”. We then selected a handful of amazing local artists to create original works of art inspired by those same films.
As mentioned above, each piece will be revealed at the show prior to the screening of the source film. All of which will be hosted by our very own, terrible Rod Serling impersonator. The art will then be hung on the walls of Studio 8700 for the duration of the event.
This will be a unique evening of macabre art, film and bad philosophy that makes for a perfect Friday night event to kick off the Halloween season. Tickets will be a mere $5 at the door. Seating is extremely limited but if you get in, it’ll be worth the effort. Doors are at 7:30 and the show starts at 8pm at Studio 8700 on Nine Mile in Oak Park, MI.
