The horror genre is by far and away one of the most popular in the gaming industry, with millions of gamers around the world loving nothing more than getting stuck into some horror action, due to their sheer love of the thrills and adrenaline rushes it provides. Many horror games over the years have featured immortals to great effect, and we’ve done our best to pick out some of the finest horror titles in which immortals roam.
Resident Evil 2 (Remake)
No horror games best list should ever be without at least one Resident Evil title, and it is the Resident Evil 2 remake which makes an appearance here. It’s been over two decades since the original Resident Evil 2 debuted on the PS1, with the remake seeing the game undergoing a complete overhaul. The game sees Leon and Claire tasked with escaping Raccoon City, a place where immortals roam, with the remake adding even more gore and better gunplay and puzzles than ever before.
We have chosen to include Immortal Romance, a superb slot game developed by leading developers Microgaming. It’s an all-time classic in the slot game world, becoming iconic and a cult favourite since its release. The game itself centres in on love story that is dark and full of intrigue as immortals Amber, Michael, Sarah and Troy feature in this vampire themed slot. Immortal Romance is an epic slot game which can be enjoyed at the online casino Royal Vegas and other reputable online casinos. The game has 243 ways to win and arguably one of the spookiest too, which explains why it has remained so popular with players years after its release.
Outlast is first-person horror gaming at its finest, as an abandoned asylum is discovered to be more active than first thought. It’s during the night that the adventure gets going as investigative freelance journalist Miles Upshur is topped off that experiments are being conducted within the walls of the asylum. Outlast is a game that uses cameras within the game to increase the fear factor tenfold, as Upshur comes across demented patients, corpses, immortals, and a whole lot more.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
In Amnesia: The Dark Descent players assume the role of protagonist Daniel as they look to guide him to safety, while also keeping him sane throughout. The character is trapped in a dark and disturbing building that is infested with monsters and immortals, with Daniel not having a clue who he is or why he’s in fact there. As he has no weapons, staying out of the clutches of the enemy is vital, which proves difficult as they appear from every angle. Each room entered tests Daniel’s sanity, draining It further. The infamous water part of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, is written in horror game history.
Horror, immortals, and everything else associated with the genre are as popular now as they’ve ever been. Gamers love nothing more than starting out on adventures that are primed to make them jump, providing heart stopping moments throughout. There have been some brilliant releases over the years and there’s plenty more to come from this genre going forward.
