L.A. ZOMBIE Screening in Australia Leads to Police Search of Film Festival Director’s Home

Melbourne Underground Film Festival director Richard Wolstencroft’s home was raided after a secret screening of L.A. ZOMBIE in August. Wolstencroft dubbed the screening a “Public Disobedience Freedom of Speech Event” after the film was banned in the country due its sexual and controversial content.

The film L.A. ZOMBIE depicts the exploits of a possibly psychotic man trying to revive the dead through gay sex and has screened at numerous film festivals around the globe, but was denied classification in Australia. As a result the film could not be legally screened in the country. Police arrived at Wolstencroft’s residence last week and searched the premises for a copy of the film but came up empty handed. Regardless, charges were filed against Wolstencroft, but a court date has not yet been set.
