SPYGLASS MEDIA GROUP Ressurects HELLRAISER, Based on CLIVE BARKER’S HORROR CLASSIC

SPYGLASS MEDIA GROUP RESURRECTS HELLRAISER,
BASED ON CLIVE BARKER’S HORROR CLASSIC, WITH DAVID S. GOYER PRODUCING AND WRITING THE STORY

Spyglass Media Group, LLC (“Spyglass”), an independent premium content company, is breathing new life into “Hellraiser” with a loyal, yet evolved reimagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic featuring the iconic character Pinhead, with David S. Goyer on board to produce and write the story. The announcement was made today by Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Spyglass.

Spyglass will finance, develop and fast track the film for worldwide theatrical distribution. This marks the first project since the company announced its launch in March. Keith Levine will serve as a producer alongside Goyer, under the Phantom Four banner. Chris Stone, Vice President, Development & Production for Spyglass, will oversee the project.

Over three decades, the “Hellraiser” franchise has reached “cult favorite” status with a universe that has spawned ten films, graphic novels and merchandise.

Barber said, “Clive and I go back more than 30 years together. For generations, his brilliantly twisted and imaginative ‘Hellraiser’ haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead.” He added, “David is the perfect storyteller to continue Clive’s vision for a new theatrical version of ‘Hellraiser.’ ”

Goyer said, “I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and The Hellbound Heart novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral.”

Well-known for architecting story universes, Goyer co-wrote on the Batman franchise with Christopher Nolan (“Batman Begins,” “Dark Knight,” “Dark Knight Rises); Marvel’s “Blade” Trilogy (“Blade,” “Blade II,” “Blade: Trinity”) and on the upcoming “Terminator: Dark Fate,” produced by James Cameron. Looking ahead, Goyer is show-running the upcoming “Foundation” series at Apple.

Goyer is repped by WME and John LaViolette.
