When Ron Howard dropped his work adapting The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft in favor of taking on Stephen King’s The Dark Tower Series it seemed like a film adaptation of the popular comic series by Mac Carter would never see the light of day. Luckily John August heeded the call of Cthulu and he’s now dusting off the remnants and picking up where Ron Howard left off. The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft followed the mysterious adventures of the reclusive Lovecraft as the author encounters many of the mythical creatures that he wrote about in his stories. Although the project is listed on imdb as 2011 film, there is no estimated release date for the movie at this time.
In the meantime, you can quench your thirst for tentacle monsters and madness with the 2013 film AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS about a group of explorers who accidentally awaken a prehistoric species with disastrous results, and the game inSane, both from Guillermo del Toro.
