The Ugly Movie Review by Matt Boiselle
The Director Scott Reynolds’ 1997 psycho-thriller “The Ugly” just got the imperial treatment from the 4K car-wash, and we as fans couldn’t be happier – read on for all the details!
The late -90’s stylish shocker tells the tale of convicted serial killer Simon (Paolo Rotundo) as he’s serving his sentence in a mental hospital where the worst atrocities committed against him aren’t just from the orderlies themselves, as he’s wracked with his own personal demons tearing away at him. A dedicated psychologist (Rebecca Hobbs) does her due diligence to determine if Simon is mentally fit to return to the populous, but it appears as if those demons are about to manifest in the worst way possible.
Now, after all these years the film is being released for the first time in North America, and while I’ve never seen the original copy, after seeing this brushed-up version I’m completely fine with that – aurally & visually the film looks and sounds razor-sharp, and there’s also a load of special features jammed on the disc to keep the purists overjoyed. What are you waiting for? Get on over to MVDShop.com and pre-order your copy NOW – release date is set for April 21st.
