Genre Stalwarts Mike Ferguson and John Hitt Partner with Director Christopher Douglas-Olen Ray for a New Zombie Horror Feature “Dead Road”

A powerhouse trio of independent horror veterans has announced the development of “Dead Road”, a visceral new entry into the zombie subgenre. The project is currently in the early stages of development, promising a fresh, high-octane take on the undead apocalypse. The project is the brainchild of actor and genre superstar Mike Ferguson (The Last Hit, Amityville Uprising, The Boatyard). After its inception, Ferguson brought on producer John Hitt (Slice!, Slice 2! Children of the Course, Clown Motel 3, Based on the Original Film ‘Night of the Living Dead’) to shepherd the project through production.

Taking the helm as director is Emmy-Award winning producer, Christopher Douglas-Olen Ray (Assault on VA-33, Mercenaries, Based on the Original Film ‘Night of the Living Dead’). Ray has established himself in the action and horror space. He brings extensive experience directing high-concept features.

Dead Road is described as a journey down a path of horror where survival is their only option but far from guaranteed. While plot details remain closely guarded, the production team has signaled a commitment to the gritty, practical effects-driven storytelling that has defined their collective careers.

“We are excited to bring this vision to life with such a dedicated team” said the producers in a joint statement. “With Chris’ directorial eye and the raw energy Mike brings to the screen, Dead Road is going to be a ride that horror fans won’t soon forget” says Hitt.

Further casting announcements and production timelines are expected in the coming months.
