The New Era of the Pack: Inside Mark Allen’s ‘Alpha Male’

Released on April 15, 2025, Alpha Male is the highly anticipated second installment in the Blood Red Moon werewolf trilogy by author Mark Allen. Following the breakout success of the series’ debut, Alpha Male plunges readers into a global supernatural power struggle that blends high-octane horror with deep character drama.

The Plot: A Reluctant Rise to Power
The story picks up six months after the events of Blood Red Moon. Caleb Jacobsen, a 184-year-old werewolf and history teacher, has successfully defeated the former Global Alpha, saving humanity from a planned annihilation.
However, his victory created a power vacuum. The werewolf world has splintered into fractured packs, descending into “bitter infighting” and chaos. Caleb is forced to abandon his quiet life with his human fiancée, Marla, when a werewolf delegation convinces him that he is the only one capable of restoring order. Despite his reluctance, Caleb ascends to the position of Global Alpha.

Caleb’s primary challenge comes from Logan Olivier, a brutal traditionalist who rejects Caleb’s policy of “détente” with humans. Logan leads a violent insurrection, aiming to trigger a “Werewolf Apocalypse” and a human holocaust.

Reviews and Reception
The novel has been met with critical acclaim, securing the 1st Place Award for “Horror: Creatures and Monsters” at The BookFest Fall 2025. It also spent five consecutive weeks on the Amazon Bestseller chart for Horror Suspense.
Kirkus Reviews: Described it as a “tautly written follow-up” that serves as both a solid wrap-up and a tease for the final book.

Prairies Book Review: Called the book “gripping, brutal, yet surprisingly tender,” praising Allen’s cinematic prose.
Reader Consensus: On platforms like Goodreads, fans have lauded the book’s intense transformation scenes and the complex, multilayered development of its villains.
