The 23rd New York City Horror Film Festival (NYCHFF), running Thursday, December 4 through Sunday, December 7, returns this winter with a chilling array of independent cinema from around the world. Hosted at the Look Dine-In Cinema (657 W 57th St), NYCHFF 23 features indie horror premieres, and both theatrical and virtual screenings.
Premieres and special presentations include the Opening Night World Premiere of Last Chance Motel, starring horror icons Danielle Harris, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Heather Langenkamp, with all three scream queens in attendance, taking place Thursday, Dec 4, 9:45 pm.
The East Coast premiere of Don’t Let the Cat Out, featuring a feline-obsessed couple seeking a human vessel for the soul of their beloved cat, will have director Tim Cruz, star Cerina Vincent, and co-star and screenwriter Anthony Del Negro on hand to present their monsterwork on Thursday, Dec 4, 7 pm.
Saturday night debuts the World Premiere of one of horror icon Tony Todd’s final films, The Pitchfork Retreat, on Saturday, Dec 6, 7:45 pm, co-directed by siblings Gregory and Nicole Van Voorhis. The Pitchfork Retreat is a secluded high-stakes getaway where guests are promised a life-changing competition, but by the final dinner they learn that there’s a dark prize on the serving tray. Danielle Harris, Dee Wallace, Andrew Divoff, Austin Pendleton, and Adrienne Barbeau also dine at this dark table.
On Sunday night, after another full day of great films, the festival closes out the weekend with the annual filmmaker awards event, awarding Best Feature, Best Short and Best Director.
The New York City Horror Film Festival is the longest-running horror film festival on the East Coast and looks forward to celebrating its 23rd year in Manhattan.
