Blu-Ray 4K HD Review: Expendable 4
The tagline is “They’ll die when they’re dead”
EXPENDABLES 4 was directed by Scott Waugh, and written by Tad Daggerhart, and Max Adams.
The star power is there with the usual suspects including the iconic Sly Stallone (Stallone has a documentary on NETFLIX. I suggest you check it out. What a story. I love Philadelphia, and when I’m going through a lot, I take a trip to Philly and run the ROCKY museum stairs.) Jason Statham who is great. Dolph Lundgren, Andy Garcia, Randy Couture with lots of wrestling talk. There are funny moments. There’s a fun chemistry between some of the “new blood” as they are always referred to. The new blood is 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iwo Uwais – he plays a bad dude, a REAL bad dude, does a good job. One of my favorite characters was Jacob Scipio who plays Galan, he’s Antonio Banderas’ characters son from part three.
He’s funny, he likes to talk, he loves love and passion. We also get Tony Jaa as Decha, TONY JAA, EVERYONE. That gentleman is like a mix of Bruce Lee and every Zen bad ass person there is. I will admit the CGI and some of the action scenes were kind of ehhhhh. I loved, LOVED EXPENDABLES. It felt like the ultimate action film.
Part of me wants to say, okay, that is enough but these movies are fun. They don’t truly pretend to be anything else. I mean the comradery is there between these actors. There are some fun sexy, frisky moments between Megan Fox and Jason Statham. It was nice to see the twist that came up in the end although I caught something real quick that made me go, OHHHHH, OKAY! I see what’s going to happen. For a second I thought I was wrong and well, I was NOT wrong.
Sly Stallone has given so much to the fans and the action genre. Expendables 4 is action-packed. I suppose some people were focused on the first three films.
This may not be the greatest of The Expendables but it’s a fun movie. Director Scott Waugh did an amazing job with bringing the old school and the new school. The 50 Cent song playing during an invasion was the best. 50 Cent did a great job portraying his character. He got into everything, jumped right in with this wild cast. Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas has been one of my favorite characters along with Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross. Ross is THE EXPENABLES. Sly Stallone is the action. He brings it all in.
