‘Housebound’ garnered itself some buzz when it screened down at the SXSW festival earlier this year – and it’s prepping to take on the Fantasia Festival next. The project got some good news this weekend though when XLrater Media announced an Oct. 17th release date for the film here in the states.
No DVD or Blu-ray info yet but you will be able to find it on VOD – iTuness and the like then. Even some limited theatrical showings so keep an eye in your market, you might just get lucky.
With the announced roll out also came a brand new trailer. You’re going to want to check this out.

The film tells the tale of Kylie Bucknell (played by Morgana O’Reilly ) who after getting herself into some trouble finds herself under house arrest and is stuck home with her mother – who is convinced that the house in haunted. After a few troubling incidents she begins to believe the same and that’s when the fun ensues.
‘Housebound’ is directed by George Johnstone.
This is on my “must see” list for the PiFan festival next week, so I’ll give my thoughts about it on the website and the “Horror News Radio” podcast. Can’t wait to see it! Another New Zealand horror comedy, “What We Do in the Shadows,” is high on my list, too.
