Disney is closing the deal for J.J. Adrams to direct the next installment of the Star Wars saga. The massive Star Wars franchise was sold to Disney by its’ creator George Lucas for a whopping $4 billion. What that’s equivalent to in Ewok currency, I have no idea. Disney plans to pumping out a new Star Wars film every two to three years, with the seventh film to be released in 2015.
I’m a huge Star Wars geek and I think the announcement of J.J. Adrams to direct has given A NEW HOPE (no pun intended) to the Star Wars Nerd Universe. J.J. Adrams has more than proven that he is the new king of science fiction after his successes with the LOST television series, and the FRINGE television series, not to mention the reboot of the Star Trek movies.
George Lucas, “it’s now time for me to pass `Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers”.
