Hi Jim, please tell us how the movie Gatlopp, manifested?
Jim- It manifested one night because of drinking. I was meeting a bunch of friends, and we wanted to head out for a night on the town. We met at a place and a friend suggested we play a game, like a pregame, and we started playing this game, and I was joking because my friend’s wife said to us, you guys are supposed to leave but we just enjoyed our time together. I had all these ideas. I kept thinking what if Jumanji was a drinking game? So, I pitched the idea. The characters came out of the writing.
It was such a fun movie because of the story. The dialogue between everyone was great. It was refreshing.
Jim- Thanks. That means a lot.
What was it like for you working with Alberto Belli, the director?
Jim- Alberto is a visual genius. He had such a fun approach taking on this story. He had all of these plans. We had an amazing cast too.
What are you working on next?
Jim- I was hired to write and direct an R-Rated Rom-Com. I’m working on a bunch of animated stuff too. I have a horror-comedy I want to do.
What do you want to say to everyone that will be watching the movie?
Jim- The movie almost didn’t happen. We tried to make it ourselves and that didn’t happen. We were able to cast it, and on our second day of shooting there was a COVID scare. In the end it was a positive.
Drinking with friends can actually lead to good ideas. Thank you so much Jim for taking the time to talk with me.
Jim- Thank you so much.
