Hi Liam, this movie was so good. It was so refreshing to watch this. The special effects are wild. I have so many questions for you but, I will start with, how did this idea manifest for you? And, this is the third film now.
Liam- Thank you first of all. I love the cast; I love the adventure and the effects. The manifestation came from working on two and having this cool international team of stunt guys and tough guys actors. An international team of bad asses take on aliens could be a cool movie; how could I do that? Once we did the last reshoot, which was bringing in Lindsey Morgan’s adult character and flash forward ten years in the future and humans had taken over the alien technology, that’s when I felt like I had my way in.
I have to ask about the special effects. What can you tell us about everything?
Liam- The aliens in camera suits are very much old-school predator/aliens foam latex monster suits. We had some new stuff and some of the old stuff. When the creatures are moving really fast, they have to be CG augmented.
Will there be another one or are you working on something different?
Liam- We’re trying to get financed on something different but we are working on a part four treatment and then script eventually. I feel like each movie is such a learning process. I start writing them and it still gets shaped a lot by the audience reaction. I was happy at the end of Beyond Skyline to see that Lindsey has a lot of fans. I saw that they were connecting.
What was it like working with the cast?
Liam- It was a lot of fun. Working on the second movie when you’re a first-time director and you are working with a seasoned actor like Frank Grillo, a veteran actor. I was holding on for dear life. I had written it for him. Then working with some like Lindsey. She’s an experienced actor in her own right. It was kind of a little bit more of a collaboration.
I thank you so much Liam for taking the time to talk with me for Horrornews.net. You rocked this film.
Liam- Thank you. I appreciate it.
