Kansas City Grindhouse auteur Jeff Chitty will be premiering his third feature film, THE TAKING OF SAVANNAH at Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville KY the weekend of July 22nd.
The film follows five thugs and an unknowing girlfriend who make a BIG mistake when they kidnap and hold young Hollywood “celebutatnte” Savannah Sondheim (heiress to the Sondheim tissue fortune) for a weekend to collect a ransom. When Savannah escapes, it becomes a brutal fight for survival where friends turn against one another and fight for their lives.
The film features Krystal Heib (FETCH), Denise Carroll (FETCH, RAVAGED), Antoine Williams (recently seen in the video “HOWLIN’ FOR YOU” by The Black Keys), Mike Ducey (SURVIVE!), Jeremy Everts, Cameron Haines, Brian Boye, Timothy Harvey and John D. Barnes. The script was penned by Dustin Adair. Robert P. Campbell handled the lensing and Colleen May (FETCH, NAILBITER, ALBINO FARM) handled the makeup and FX.
Screening alongside SAVANNAH at Fright Night will be many other films, including films from Kansas City area filmmakers David R. Berry, Brian Boye, John D. Barnes, Andrew Rolston, Dustin Adair and festival regular Patrick Rea. Also appearing at Fright Night: legendary director John Carpenter, scream queen Tiffany Shepis, Henry (The Fonz) Winkler, a REVENGE OF THE NERDS reunion, a DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW reunion, Michael A. Baldwin (PHANTASM), Jim Kelly (ENTER THE DRAGON, BLACK BELT JONES), cult filmmaker Fred Olen Ray (HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS) and many, many more!
