Yesterday we showed you the poster for the upcoming movie Bereavement. Bereavement is writer/director Stevan Mena’s gruesome prequel to MALEVOLENCE. The MPAA board has not viewed the movie but has already slammed down judgment on the poster and it’s a big NO.
The reason for the ban is because it shows a child holding a weapon. Mena explained to Fangoria “It’s hugely disappointing, because that poster really encapsulated the plot of the film with an intriguing image. It’s a real setback for us, considering the challenges we already face competing for attention with a small budget.”
What a shame that this happened. Unfortunately the MPAA has a long history of being critical of independent films.
