REVIEW:
Ok kids! got some more short films for you. This time we have TRIPPY THE SERIAL KILLER from Sands of the Phoenix Productions, written and directed by Tim Phoenix. As far as I can find, this is Mr. Phoenix’s first film.
This is the single most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, and I mean that in the very best way possible. It’s funny, and cheesy, and a nerd’s freaking dream.
our pal Trippy the clown (played by “himself” according to the credits) has escaped from either prison or an asylum and goes on a killing spree through Hollywood. The chief of police (played by Walter Phelan, who also played Dr. Satan in HOUSE OF A THOUSAND CORPSES) is desperate to catch him but the bodies are piling up. There’s only one thing left to do – call in the Big Guns.
Hollywood explodes in violence as Thor (Tim Phoenix), Wonder Woman (Sandy Martin), and every other superhero, serial killer, horror monster, and crazy gun-toting survivalist launch an all out hunt for Trippy.
Yes. You read that correctly. Fandoms collide to save the city from this nasty killer puppet who has an insatiable blood lust. There’s some really fun gore, some not-so-awesome after effects, and references to just about every damn thing you can think of.
The short also features an original song by Kentucky metal band PRIMER 55, a band with quite a colorful history. So if you are a fan of these guys, this is a definite bonus.
So using my special “short scale” of one to five, five being awesome, I’m giving this film 4 killer puppets.
I very much enjoyed this short film. It brought me back to my childhood in a fun horrific way. I love TRIPPY The Clown.
Great article! I’ve followed TRIPPY, Tim & Sandy for a long time. They are about as entertaining as it gets. I’m pretty sure Tim has directed other things in the past.
