The United States Library of Congress announced twenty-five new additions to their ever-growing list of culturally significant films as selected by the National Film Preservation Board. Included in the tally of legendary films, that range from the sci-fi space opera STAR WARS to the comedy classic AIRPLANE!, is William Friedkin’s THE EXORCIST. Dubbed the scariest movie of all time by Entertainment Weekly and Movies.com THE EXORCIST stars Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair, and Max von Sydow and was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture, Actress, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress.
Undeniably one of the most influential horror films of all time, THE EXORCIST joins other great horror films preserved in the National Film Registry including Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), and Freaks (1932).
