The 55th Chicago International Film Festival is fast approaching and we’ve assembled a killer slate of genre flicks for this year’s After Dark program!
We’re kicking off the festival in gory, hilarious style with Zombieland: Double Tap–Ruben Fleischer’s long-awaited follow-up to his 2009 hit about a group of misfits doing whatever they can to survive in a zombie-riddled world. Not only will you get to see the film before it opens nationwide, but show up in your best undead threads and you’ll have the chance to win awesome prizes!
Next up, Travis Stevens’ Girl on the Third Floor and Jennifer Reeder’s Frightfest favorite, Knives and Skin are marking their homecoming with can’t-miss screenings during the festival’s opening weekend. Produced, cast, and filmed in our own backyard, these chillers showcase Chicagoland scare-making at its finest!
Finally, our block of genre shorts (Shorts 3: Up At Night) offers up living dreams, waking nightmares, and flesh-hungry animals to titillate and terrify you. The standout, Please Speak Continuously and Describe Your Experiences As They Come To You comes to us from the chilly north courtesy of Brandon Cronenberg, whose Antiviral (2012) announced the emergence of a new body-horror master to rival the director’s own father.
All this and a bold selection of international features (including Deerskin and 8: A South African Horror Story) is on offer for horror fans when the Chicago International Film Festival kicks off on October 16th.
