Busted Babies Movie Review by Matt Boiselle
Busted Babies directed and written by Kasper Meltedhair, and starring Kasper Meltedhair, Erin Caywood and Cody Brant
Synopsis: When a mysterious substance turns flesh into glass, all hell breaks loose and your viewing experience will never be the same again.
Look, we’ve all at one time or another have had that one movie-going experience that made you question not only the director’s sanity, but your own especially after making it through the entire presentation – then WELCOME to “Busted Babies” – all I ask is for respective viewers to please shut off your brains for the duration as you won’t need them from here on out.
The film’s “plot” if you will, centers around the movie’s characters being affected by some foreign goo that begins to turn everyday flesh into brittle, yet razor-sharp pieces of glass and the subsequent events that occur, and to say that this one veers out of the normal freeway drive-lane onto the psychotic exit ramp into Kookville is simply cheating the process. The audience is strongly encouraged to simply sit back and let all of the madness unfold around them, and let sanity be damned. Visually. the movie comes off like one of those arthouse presentations where the camera is undergoing some kind of psychotic break with no meds in site, and at times it’s just hypnotic to ingest it all with no worries intact.
Performances mirror the same contained lunacy that’s implied with the visuals, as the characters ramble, babble and at times appear completely unintelligible with their dialogue, and when Meltedhair steps out from behind the lens to perform in front of it, the ringmaster of this circus of delirium has certainly come to operate in grand fashion. If you look for any form of explanation with “why this scene happened” or “what was the motive here?” I’m sorry to tell you that you’re just wasting brainpower – “Busted Babies” surely may be categorized under the horror label, but it’s so much more than that – then again, it also depends on what your interpretation of horror is. To me, something truly horrific would entail me having to donate another 87 minutes to something like this again – one and done, no questions asked.
