FOUND TV is bringing Distort 2: The Dead Among the Trees to audiences this spring, with the film set to premiere exclusively on the platform May 1, 2026. Directed by Irish filmmaker Richard Waters, the sequel will first screen at the upcoming Unnamed Footage Festival in San Francisco before making its streaming debut. The follow-up arrives after the original Distort found a strong audience on FOUND TV, with fans actively calling for a continuation of its folklore-driven story. That response helped push the sequel into motion, making Distort 2 an example of how audience demand is shaping what comes next in the found footage space.
Set once again in a remote Irish forest, the film picks up the threads of the first installment. A musician who previously experienced something unexplainable involving ghostly dogs and strange cassette tapes returns to the woods alongside a documentary filmmaker. Their goal is to uncover what really happened and to investigate whether a woman believed to be trapped there for decades can still be saved.
Like its predecessor, Distort 2 leans heavily into atmosphere to build tension and expand on the mythology surrounding the forest and the so-called weeping man.
“Seeing audiences connect with the first Distort and then ask for more is exactly why we built FOUND,” said Louie La Vella, co-founder of FOUND TV. “This is about giving filmmakers a real place to grow their stories and build something over time. Richard created something people cared about, and now that story gets to continue.”
The film will be available globally on FOUND TV, which offers both a free-with-ads option and an ad-free FOUND TV+ membership. The original Distort is also currently streaming on the platform for those looking to revisit the story before the sequel arrives.
With a growing library of found footage titles and a focus on supporting indie filmmakers, FOUND TV continues to position itself as a go-to destination for fans of the genre looking for new voices and evolving stories.
For horror fans who followed the first film, Distort 2: The Dead Among the Trees looks to dig deeper into its unsettling world when it premieres this May.
