Review:
If suffering though a horrific crime against oneself isn’t traumatizing enough, what if the offender was closer to you than you thought? In Director Gabriel Carrer’s mysterious new film, “Death Cycle”, the fluff gets thrown out onto the highway to fend for itself and the audience is strapped on the back seat of a murder-vehicle with nowhere to go or signal for help.
The opening scene of this 80-minute smasher features a systematic “mercy-killing” of sorts following a ghastly accident, and the events that follow for a family who has been selected to suffer directly afterwards. A mysterious biker, clad in jet black with a full-cover helmet is the brutalist, and after said atrocities have been committed, they just ride off on their steel-horse without a care in the world (outside of the washing needed to get the blood off of their tires, but nobody’s perfect). One family member (Ninaber) has emerged to use his journalistic skills in the hopes of finding the killer, and his first point of contact is Abby (Kaster), who survived an attack but lost her sister in the process. Time continues to run out as more murders occur, and the newly-formed team have to do some serious brain-panning to potentially stop this rash of sadistic killings.
For a film with a rather packaged 80 minute runtime, quite a bit of this production is top-heavy with dialogue which may be off-putting to genre fans who want some sadism with their viewing, but don’t despair – the blood will spill, bones will break and intestines will be freed from their protective torso covers. Visuals combine nicely with the music track as well to make this revenge-slasher something that any pedestrian will enjoy, but please to keep your butts in the walk-lane off to the side of the road as these motorcyclists can get a little temperamental with their ride-placement.
Death Cycle is currently available for streaming on digital services (VOD) as of March 10th, 2026.
