Michael Joy, the mastermind behind the horror publicity powerhouse Marketing Macabre, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for his long-awaited genre-bending feature, Dead Afterlife. Joining the production team as co-producer is award-winning filmmaker Mario Cerrito (Human Hibachi franchise),
Dead Afterlife presents a unique, macabre twist on the zombie subgenre. The story follows Donald Conlee, a man who attends his own funeral as a ghost, only to watch in horror as his own reanimated corpse climbs out of the casket to terrorize the mourners. Described as “the Ghost movie for the horror generation,” the film explores the terrifying intersection of the spiritual and the physical.
Adding significant weight to the ensemble, the production is thrilled to announce the casting of Mike Ferguson. Known for his gritty, high-intensity performances in films like Showdown at the Grand and Amityville Uprising, Ferguson brings a seasoned presence to the supernatural chaos of the film.
“This project has been a labor of love for over a decade,” says Michael Joy. “Partnering with Mario Cerrito and bringing Mike Ferguson on board ensures that we aren’t just making another zombie movie—we’re making something that will leave a permanent mark on indie horror.”
The campaign aims to raise a modest $5,000 to finalize production elements, with the crowdfunding window running from March 1 through April 30, 2026. Backers can secure exclusive perks, including producer credits, signed memorabilia, and “on-screen death” opportunities.
