      Upon graduating from middle school, shy, anxious Renako Amaori is determined to reinvent herself.       On the outside, Riku Hayase (Ryohei Suzuki) appears to be a regular family man who runs a pastry shop while supporting his son and mother. His life takes a dark turn when shady detective Ayumi Gido (also played by Ryohei Suzuki) pays him a visit with horrifying news: the body of Riku’s wife has been found, and Ayumi has come to arrest Riku for the murder. Determined to prove his innocence, Riku decides to pose as the detective himself with help from Ichika Kougo (Erika Toda), one of his wife’s former coworkers.       Bangkok cardiothoracic surgeon Purim (James Jirayu Tangsrisuk) has a successful career, but he struggles with loneliness and pressure from his controlling father. When he gets a new neighbor in the form of bubbly, spirited Matalada (Toey Jarinporn Joonkiat), he’s not entirely sure what to do, as their personalities seem so different. Despite Matalada’s lighthearted exterior, she cares deeply for her loved ones, and has actually come to Bangkok to try and convince her paternal grandparents to reconnect with her father, who they broke contact with after he revealed that he wasn’t straight. After a misunderstanding between Purim and Matalada brings them closer together, they bond over a shared love of baking and begin to fall for each other. Can Matalada help bring light and love into Purim’s life?

 

      The Village Barber – Korea – February 21

      Actor Park Bo Gum – who actually has a barber’s license – opens a pop-up hair salon in a rural village alongside fellow actor friends Lee Sang Yi and Kwak Dong Yeon. There, they help style local residents’ hair while also building community and developing close relationships with the people who live there. Despite plenty of misadventures, the three are dedicated to helping make a difference, one haircut at a time.

 

      YAO-Chinese Folktales – Mainland China – February 27

      An animation collection of eight independent stories rooted in traditional Chinese culture: “The Little Monster’s Summer,” “Goose, Goose, Goose,” “Linlin,” “The Country Bus Takes Away Wang Hai’er and the Immortal,” “Xiaoman, Birds and Fish,” “The Convenience Store,” and “The Jade Rabbit.” These stories range from nostalgia for rural life to technological fantasy, from fundamental themes of life to reflections on humanity, showcasing Chinese imagination and embodying Chinese national culture and philosophy.

 

      The Practical Guide to Love – Korea – February 28

      While Lee Ui Young’s (Han Ji Min) professional life thrives, her romantic life flounders – she dreams of finding love, but isn’t interested in wasting time. After mistakenly thinking that a coworker has a crush on her, she follows her friend’s suggestion to go on blind dates and meets two very different men: furniture designer Song Tae Seop (Park Sung Hoon), who initially rubs her the wrong way by asking if she’s dating to marry on the first date, and actor Shin Ji Su (Lee Ki Taek), who actually stood in for someone else before deciding to pursue her himself. After years of romantic drought, Ui Young struggles to figure out who she sees as a future partner – the man who offers her stability and devotion, or the man who offers her passion and excitement.
