Bianca Haase (Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Life in Pieces, The Detour) stars in The Resort. The Resort was written and directed by Taylor Chien. It stars Bianca, Brock O’Hurn, Dave Sheridan, Michelle Randolph, Michael Vlamis, and Joaquin Veizaga.
Hi Bianca, thanks for taking the time to talk with me. I watched The Resort and it was such a fun movie. How did you get involved with The Resort?
Bianca- I really enjoyed being the level-headed, purposeful character in the film. It was a nice change from most female characters embody in the horror movies. I knew one of the executive producers beforehand. They had a site in Hawaii that had a short window to utilize because it was being torn down. They truly believed that it was haunted. The horror movie was so much fun. You get to go to Hawaii and I played a character that was strong and intelligent.
The resort looks massive. Was it scary? Were there any people there? Were you scared at all?
Bianca- I will say that I have never been in a huge property like that, that has been abandoned. A bunch of the doors have been ripped off of the rooms. You could hear the plastic ruffling when a breeze would come through. The plants are completely overgrown and the property is surrounded by a chain-link fence. It was easy to get in to character, especially at night.
Oh my gosh, that sounds creepy. I don’t want to give away spoilers but the ending was kind of crazy. What was it like working with everyone?
Bianca- It was a wonderful experience. Everybody onset was collaborative. There were so many talented people on set.
How did you prepare to play Lex?
Bianca- The ending was kept a secret originally. They did talk about what they wanted to do originally. We didn’t have the final script when we started shooting. When we saw what they were going to do at the end, I was so excited because I agree, it’s not what you’re expecting. Horror movies can be so repetitive. It was fun to be doing something different.
What was it like for you working with the director, Taylor Chien?
Bianca- Taylor has a wonderful eye for beautiful shots. When he is committed to the aesthetic of a scene, he doesn’t sacrifice his vision. That made for some wonderful moments to be a part of. He was adamant about shooting with real helicopters and it wasn’t CGI.
What are you working on next?
Bianca- I have taken some time away from acting. I’m going for my master degree.
That’s awesome. Congratulations.
Bianca- Thank you. I’m still participating in acting. I do a lot of comedy work, so doing a horror movie was a fun opportunity. Right now, I’m focusing on something different.
That’s great. What do you want to say to everyone that will be watching The Resort?
Bianca- I hope that everyone has fun.
Thank you so much Bianca. You rocked in this movie.
Bianca- Thank you so much.
